Quiet Observers

In October, I spent several days plein air painting with a group at The Beltane Ranch in California.  On the first day,  I painted figs growing on a tree, something I had never seen before.  I stepped back to observe my painting from a distance, and suddenly realized these three Clydesdale horses had come to the trough and were watching me.  For such large animals, they move very quietly.  It was a perfect day, one of many.

This painting comes with a complimentary stand for your convenience.

Complimentary painting stand

All of my paintings for the Daily Paintworks now include a painting stand at no extra charge.  This will give you the opportunity to enjoy your painting on a counter,  window sill, book shelf, or other small space.  Think of all the new possibilities to place artwork!  Here are a few photos:

The Publican Restaurant Persimmons SOLD

The Publican Restaurant is our favorite restaurant in Chicago.  The talented chefs prepare a beautiful display of foods to be used in their daily meals.  Many of them are perfect still lifes like this one.
With this painting, as well as those posted before this one, I am offering a complimentary painting stand, eliminating the need for framing.  Please see my blog for further details and photos.

Last of 4: Purple Bell Pepper

This is the fourth of the quadruple pepper paintings.  Please refer to my blog for the composite picture of all four paintings.

The four paintings are just resting ( a little off kilter) in a frame I have on hand.  The inside of the frame is made of fabric that Velcro sticks to.  It would be perfect for these paintings.  Let me know if you are interested.

Fairies, But No Witches

According to folklore, primroses allow people to see fairies....they will reveal the way to hidden treasure,....and if you leave a primrose on the doorstep on May Day Eve, you will prevent witches from entering.

Pansy O'Hara?

Margaret Mitchell's original choice of names for her heroine in Gone With the Wind was Pansy.  She settled on the name Scarlet just before the book was published.  So here's a Scarlet Pansy for you.

Remember?

Here in Milwaukee, pansies are one of the first flowers to be planted in the Spring.  Our weather has been too cold and miserable to plant anything, but a visit to the local garden center made me feel hopeful.  With their sweet resemblance to the human face, pansies represent "thoughts" or contemplation.  Purple pansies are for memories, yellow for loving thoughts.
