1233. The Last Hurrah

 Unfortunately, there are no more onions grown in my rooftop garden, which is not to say that there won't be more onion paintings. (smile)  I really enjoyed painting this series.

1226. Cryin' Shame

 I'm still drawn to these onions, and want to paint as many as I can before I must bring them in for the winter.  I was surprised to see green scapes growing from the onions again.  I've never had that happen, but it does give me another painting opportunity.

1068 Quick Change Performance

 I very much enjoyed painting the hosta yesterday and wanted to paint it again today.  The vase is the same as in yesterday's painting, but rotated to reveal a different design.  It is one of my favorite pieces, purchased from a really great potter's studio and barn in Egg Harbor Door County called Off the Wheel Pottery.  Renee Schwaller is the really cool proprietress and I am proud to own many of her pieces.

1063 Flirtatious

 It's really nice not having to purchase flowers for my still lifes.  I just go to my roof and pick them.

Tomorrow begins the Strada Easel 2021 30-day September challenge, during which artists from all around the world paint a painting every day and post them to social media and to Strada's site.  Although I have painted most every day for many years, this will be fun and challenging in a different way.   I hope you will follow my progress.

977 First Blooms

I have a large rooftop garden, and this year I planted more flowers than in previous years.  It's the only place I can grow flowers that require full sun.  I can't wait till they all bloom.  In the meantime, I plucked these two to stimulate more blooms.    I love this little vase, which is about the size of a large shot glass.  It was made by Renee Schwaller, potter and proprietress of Off The Wall Pottery.  I just love her work, and sgraffito pottery in particular.  This is one of three that I couldn't resist.  This one has an owl on the back side, and you know how much I love owls.

939 Quick Change Artist

We picked a beautiful pepper from the rooftop garden and I thought it would be fun to paint.  The goofy thing changed colors right before my eyes from mostly green to mostly red.  I came back a day later to finish and had to revise the whole painting.  Ahhh, Mother Nature's trickery!

908 Fruitful Yield

This set up was one day's picking of tomatoes from my rooftop garden.  I enjoyed painting them almost as much as I enjoyed eating them.  Nothing fancy, just a tomato fresh from the vine with salt.  A tomato sandwich on pita if I'm really hungry.
