964 That's What Friends Are For

Good friends are one of the greatest gifts I have.  During this Corona Virus stay-at-home period, the bright spot of many of my days is catching up on the phone with a friend I haven't seen or spoken with in awhile.  As a sign of the times, VENMO is fun too, although not perfect.  Even if there is nothing new to report, it is really nice to hear the voice of an old friend.

Have you ever seen that little saying, "One good friend is worth 1,000 relatives."  I am so lucky to love my relatives AND my friends!

963 We're Not in Kansas Anymore

This one is a little "out there" but it should remind you that I am not preplanning the paint blobs.  yikes.  I am pretty proud of myself for coming up with the title, however.

962 Jack in the Box

I'm having almost as much fun coming up with titles for these paintings as I am making the paintings.

960 Forget-Me-Not

I love the color blue and so when I "saw" the teapot in the paint splotch, I jumped on the opportunity to feature this cool and calming section of the color wheel.  There are very few truly blue flowers, and they are some of my favorites.  Forget-Me-Nots are the sweetest little plants, Brunnerra's flowers are very much like Forget-Me-Nots but have much larger leaves, and of course Delphinium, which I have not had luck in growing.  As an artist, I'm allowed to create my own blue flowers.  So there.

959 Black Tie Affair

I thought I'd try something a little different this time and left the background white.  I think you can see where the paint spills originated.  Please let me reiterate that there is no planning or forethought in the spills.  I'm not sure I like the white background but I guess it can be colored in if I decide otherwise.

958 Fruit Salad

I thought I would mix it up and "look for" fruit in my black paint "spill."  This was more challenging than the previous florals, but still lots of fun. This is so far removed from my regular style of painting, but it is very liberating.  I can't help but feel these are "happy paintings" and well liked because there is so much gloom in our world right now.

956 Free Spirited

This is my third black blob painting.  I really like the funky vase and the purple flowers.  I'm having too much fun to call this work.  Hoping you like it.

955 Playground

I'm having a ball encouraging my creative side (and black paint) to bust loose.  This is such a freeing exercise! I think you can probably see some of the black "Rorschack" pour behind the yellow background.

I've received a lot of positive feedback, so I will continue on this path for awhile.

954 Cheerful Diagnosis

When I was a child in fifth or sixth grade, I was fascinated with the Rorschach test.  In case you are interested in learning more about this psychological test, here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rorschach_test is a link to a Wikipedia article, which I think is fascinating.  For a school report, I made inkblots on paper and surveyed my very young nieces and nephews to determine their psychological health.  Pretty funny, eh?

I suppose we all look for something familiar in shapes by analyzing clouds or abstract art.  During these Coronavirus lockdown days,  I thought I would test my creativity by pouring black paint on some boards and then try to find an image.  So far no scary images, or maybe it's just my attempt to be optimistic.  This is the first painting in this little series.  It was lots of fun and no pressure.

Your thoughts?

952. Social Distancing

This painting is a little different for me because I used a palette knife for all the painting except for the grasses.  Water lilies are not easy to draw or paint--they often look like Pacmen!  This was a lot of fun and something different to occupy the time.  What do you think?

Still need a title.  Maybe you can help?
