1223. Tear Jerker

 I've grown onions in my rooftop garden for the last three years, and this year I am more fascinated with them than ever.  It amazes me that they start out so very small---seedlings are thin as pins and very fragile,  yet end up being a sturdy kitchen staple.  I'm very happy with this painting as I enjoyed painting the twists and turns of the scapes.

1070 For the Birds

 

The sunflowers on my roof are winding down, petals falling with any little breeze or motion.  I hate to see them go.  The birds have been pecking away at the seeds, so I suppose I will leave the mammoth stalks in the ground of the elevated containers for them to enjoy the seeds.  I love this little polka dotted box because it reminds me of my very first friend and neighbor in Milwaukee.  We used to pass it back and forth with little gifts for birthdays, etc.  It "appeared" at our back doors, always bringing joy to the recipient.  I miss her.

997 Red Velvet

 The flower season is ending here in Chicago, and each day I try to bring in a few blooms to enjoy. This summer I've come to appreciate the Cosmos  flowers as the happy, yet under appreciated flower that they are.  FYI, my husband named this painting.  I happened to have what I consider to be a perfect frame for it, too.
