1036 Chewy
This is a commission painting of a dog who recently passed over the Rainbow Bridge. It's always a good feeling to create something that helps to heal the void created by a lost pet.

943 Little Man and 944 Dewey
Dewey was my neighbor's dog when we lived in Milwaukee and I really loved him. I liked to think he loved me too, although he could have cared less about Oliver. He was a 4 pound bundle of sweetness, personality, and attitude. His family thought they were getting a Maltese puppy, but then his ears grew, so they called him a Maltewawa. We always said Dewey had a Little Man complex, because he was not afraid of anything and he determined where he wanted to go for a walk, turning right, left, or back toward home. He crossed over the Rainbow Bridge in October at 14.5 human years old. Dewey had two human mamas who loved him, and both picked their favorite version of Dewey so I wanted to paint both. I can't imagine visiting and not seeing his sweet face.

648 Pepper
It's been awhile since I've painted a pet portrait. Pepper is my friend's father's dog, and he is the only dog I've ever met that actually poses for the camera. I took only three pictures of him, all decent, because he sat and looked right where I wanted him to. Most of the time I have to chase the dog around hoping to get a nice shot.

527 My Teddy Bear, Oliver
Well, I ran out of polar bear photo references, and I sooooo enjoy painting all those luscious whites, so I looked around and there before me was my very own teddy bear (yes, that's the breed), Oliver, all fresh and clean from his New Year's bath. He was a willing participant today--- he usually runs from the camera.
Happy New Year all!

Waiting for You
This is Charlie, waiting at the window for his owner. I've painted him several times and never tire of the subject. I've said it before and I'll say it again: He's the best dog on earth.
