1207. To the Beach

I'm very happy with this, even though it has a gritty feel to it.  I stretched myself, and I think that's what I'm pleased with.

1164. And That is the Question

I recall somewhere in my past, I enjoyed cutting letters out and sorting them by letter in multi-compartment containers, and then putting them together to form a message, a la ransom message style.  Have you ever seen the ransom message, "Hand over the chocolate and no one will get hurt."?  Cracks me up every time.

I love this little painting, especially the letters.  There are so many situations in our world that have me asking this question on a daily basis.  I know I'll never get a true answer.  Sadly.

1143 Change of Heart

There is so much to learn in the abstract painting world.  I've been studying many different techniques, tools, applications, and discovering what I like and what I feel represents "me" as an artist.  One very helpful suggestion is to work on several paintings at once so as not to get too fussy, involved, or obsessive about a single piece.  There are three in this series.  So this week I've made a giant mess, but it's sooooo much fun.

1140 Tampa, FLA

These recent abstracts share the same color palette because they were all begun at the same time.  Working on several paintings at a time frees the artist from becoming fixated, obsessed with, or fussy with any one painting.  There might be a couple more, but I am eager to move on to a larger format in a different color way,

The frame is available for purchase, too.

1139 Truth and Reasoning

I'm really enjoying this abstract work and am getting a lot of mileage out of the paint on my palette that's been leftover from another painting.  I'm particularly enjoying finding just the right postage stamp for each painting, which comes in handy when thinking of a title.

Bravely Unveiling the Abstracts

 Hello Friends,

I must admit that I dreaded finishing up the three abstracts because I was afraid of all those nasty voices in my head telling me I couldn't do it.  But I really wanted to post the finished product to the "class" before it was over and am happy that I did.  Surprisingly, this was not difficult for me.  I guess I was in the right "it's only paint and paper/be brave/explore/take some risks" frame of mind.  It wasn't even painful to cover up the flower outline that I liked so much, while leaving hints of the other two images.

I would be eager to hear your opinions.

Being brave paid off. I'm happy.
