1288. In the Blink of an Eye....

In the blink of an eye life can change, so make the best of each and every day.  Flowers make everyday better!

This painting is available for purchase.

1278. Sale on Cuties

My husband recently bought a giant bag of Cuties and I had some "near the end" orange Gerber daisies which begged for a painting with one of my favorite color combinations.  I was happy to comply.

1199. The Writing's On the Wall

I've been working on several paintings at one time to try to minimize the possibility of obsessing over any one of them.  This one has gone through several stages of our "relationship."  I am finally happy with it.  Please zoom in to see the faint details.  I enjoy giving homage to the former quilter in me by drawing precise lines-- such precision being important when quilting so that things line up and seams meet.  It's fun to create the evident contrast, not only in light and dark, but in shapes and elements of precision/freedom.

1170. Out on a Limb

My online class has winded down and I am working on my own for awhile.  This was one of the last paintings made before it ended.  I am happy with it because I was braver than normal and I think it shows in the mark-making and the forms.  I hope you like it.
Painting will be mounted on cradled board for sale.

1055 Get Together

This color palette is becoming a favorite of mine, possibly because it's summery and happy.  The wine bottle is a piece of artwork in itself, having a color blocked motif.  The turquoise pitcher is difficult to paint realistically so I simplified it.

1009 Gifts From the Heart

Happy New Year 2021 and Good Riddance 2020!

What a challenging year it has been.  I know I am not alone in my thinking.   The one constant has been my painting, which the pandemic did not adversely affect.  Sales from the Door County gallery were much better than expected and as were my direct sales.  I think people were stuck at home and had more time to scroll through a gazillion paintings, and were sick of looking at their same boring walls.  For all of that, I am very grateful.  I painted my little heart out, tried new genres and explored new techniques and products without guilt, and I loved every minute of it.

The pitcher in the painting was handmade by my multi-talented daughter-in-law.  I love that it is not perfectly shaped as if it were formed in a mold.  It was made just for me, which brings a wonderful feeling to my heart.  The little tea cups were a Christmas gift from one of my god-daughters who lives in Japan and I love them!  Unfortunately, one broke in the shipping, and another was broken by an Italian family member talking with his hands who shall remain nameless, and who knocked it from my hand.

I am very honored that you have stuck with me all this time and read my stories about my work.  I hope you have enjoyed hearing from me.  I would love it if you would pass my contact information along, as I would love to increase my reach.

I wish you and your family a very happy year ahead, filled with promise, hopefully with good health and an end to the virus.

Nuts and Bolts

I really enjoyed painting this, although it was a little tedious.  I've been on the hunt for more still scenes like this one and "Patent Pending."   I love painting all the patina and textures.

598 Bringing Spring In

Last weekend I bought 2 flats of pansies but it has been too darn cold to go out and garden.  So I just brought some indoors to paint.  Pansies are so sweet and simply say "happy."

506. Persimmons in a Blue and White Bowl

My Jean Wells bowl is getting quite a showing.

Yesterday Jean delivered my order of her meticulously crafted pottery.  Some people in my family will be happy to receive it.  (Shhhh....)  She has changed directions on her designs to appeal more to the "modern" set.   Check out her work at her Etsy store here:

Here sugar skull mugs are now sold at Colectivo Coffee.  Very cool.

436 Lounging

Carrots from the farm box in (on) a favorite bowl.  I love the complimentary palette of orange and blue.
