1091 Difference of Opinion

 There is a line between "persistence" and "glutton for punishment" and I crossed it again today.  I tried to paint yesterday's subject, yellow begonias,  which was a second complete failure.  Here is the second painting of the day and I'm happy with it.

1083 Simply Pink

 Apparently, pink flowers have many meanings--and all of them warm fuzzies.  Affection, love, romance, passion, sentiment, gentleness, happiness, grace, innocence.  I have come to love the color pink and all its variations, but particularly magenta.

1071 Little Gem

 I'm going to apologize in advance of writing this post because I'm sure you are sick of hearing about my sunflowers, so I'm sorry if this bores you.  The parent plant of this sunflower is now 80 inches tall growing from an elevated bed that is 30 inches off the ground (roof) so it's pretty imposing and pretty impressive to me. This little sunflower managed to grow in the "elbow" of two larger flowers, and it is only 3 inches in diameter.

968 When Life Gives You Lemons

It was really fun to make this painting, and took quite awhile to plan and execute.  The vase is one of my favorites--in case you didn't guess, black and white is my favorite color combinations.  I really enjoyed painting the lemons, but not the teapot which has a very matte finish.  The background is my favorite part.  In my still life, it was one of my scarves, but I carved a potato and used it to print the circles.

945 The Young and the Restless

I've had good luck growing nasturtiums on my rooftop. They are such a happy little flower, and I love the way they grow every which way.  This painting may look familiar to you, and it's because I have more or less painted it before, but it sold before it ever made it to the gallery wall.  It's one of my favorites.

935 Happy Every Which Way

I'm getting a lot of mileage out of my rooftop garden of nasturtiums, an edible flower and leaves.  They are such a happy flower.  The vase is a favorite from Off the Wheel Pottery in Door County, and was made using the sgraffito method.

I really enjoyed setting this scene up in my studio, although the nasturtiums are a little hard to manage.

I wonder if you are tired of seeing nasturtiums.

These little pansies have hung on in my yard since early spring.  They are scraggly and spindly, but I still love their sweet little faces.
