1235. Beach Buoys

I love painting buoys with all their scrappy paint and bright colors. I'm always looking for good reference photos because there aren't many lobster buoys here in the Midwest.

1176. To the Beach

This is the final painting (so far) in this series of get-away places near water, where I can lose everything of concern and bask in the tranquility.  I'm very happy with this painting because I was very loose and free with my gestures.  I hope it takes you away to your peaceful place.

762 Sunset Cartwheel

In addition to portraits, I have been struggling with a large painting, a still life.  I've tried many different background (wall) colors,  but nothing felt right until today, not even the artistically logical ones.  I hope to post it this week.    This painting (above) provided a little levity for me.  This little girl could win a cartwheel contest!

577 Plymouth Beach, MA

I am enjoying this learning process of repeatedly painting skies and sea with a very limited palette; especially challenging are the grey tones.  With warm weather flirting with us, I am hoping to paint at the Lake in the near future.

572 Plymouth Beach and Rocks

I love the beach and being near water.  I especially love rocks.  While I was wandering around Plymouth Beach, I was wishing I could bring a suitcase full of them home.  The colors were so beautiful!

199 Path to the Sea

On Hilton Head Island, our group of artists rented a beautiful home on the ocean.  This is a painting of the sandy path leading from the home to the Atlantic Ocean.  The beach was pristine and we found many "treasures" to sketch.  It is a very peaceful place.
